As a class we were asked to post photographs that expressed what defined fine art to us. Here are just a few of my favorites. I think art needs to be freestanding. I think art needs to be part of the artist which becomes part of the viewer. An Editor from Lens Work magazine said "The best art is about life and death, spirit and matter, suffering and pain, the natural world and the cosmic prisons in it, love or love denied, the eternal quest for the meaning of life, our relationships to the world and beyond." I agree with this point of view, art should be the result of deep expression from the artist.
For me I love to see formal elements; line, shape and form. I love high contrast and symmerty. The photograph below, Reluctant Conformity, is a self expression of what I define as Fine Art.
